We are now looking for an R&D Section Manager Digital Energy Solutions!
The Staff Function Research & Development (R&D) counts circa 150 employees working to accelerate the pursuit of fossil freedom through the development of competitive solutions. From its central position at group level, R&D supports different business units in Vattenfall with deployment of new solutions in the field, while leveraging the synergies across the various businesses. Vattenfall R&D is based at two locations in Sweden, at the headquarters in Stockholm / Solna and the R&D Laboratories in Älvkarleby.
As section manager for Digital Energy Solutions, you will be a part of the Energy Systems and Digitalization department, counting ca 80 R&D engineers based in Solna. You will be responsible for a highly qualified team of about 16 engineers performing development projects with strategic value for Vattenfall’s business. The team develops solutions for automation and control of future energy systems with high degree of flexibility and digitalization, with focus on demand side flexibility, electrification of transport, and local grid efficiency. Competence areas include energy system modelling and optimization, digital substations, communication systems, IT/OT security, e-mobility, charging infrastructure as well as decentralized energy solutions.

Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the effective execution and delivery of R&D results in projects and assignments.
- Staffing of agile teams and providing support and guidance throughout the project execution.
- Coaching of team members to enable them to grow and use their full potential.
- Strategic development of competences in line with the needs of the Business Areas and the strategy of Vattenfall.
- Being part of a manager team of section managers reporting to Director of Energy Systems and Digitalization within R&D.
- Systematically improving the working environment within the section while complying with HSSEQ requirements.
- Budget management of the section according business plan
Din bakgrund
We are looking for an experienced candidate holding at least an MSc degree in a relevant Engineering field. Experience in leading a technical team as a line manager or project manager in an international organization is an advantage. Solid understanding of project management and excellent people management, leadership and coaching skills is necessary.
Fluency in English is a prerequisite, a good command of Swedish is desirable.
Technical background in one of the following areas is beneficial: Electricity and flexibility market, power systems, IT/OT systems, automation, communication, charging infrastructure.
We are looking for you with minimum five years of relevant experience in the following areas:
- Strong knowledge of automation in the energy sector from a production, distribution or end consumer perspective.
- Experience of decentralized energy solutions such as PV, batteries and heat pumps
- Specific knowledge in communication technologies and signal processing.
- Previous experience in supporting the transition from remote monitoring and control to fully automated energy solutions.

You are a strong believer in people first and focus on enabling everyone in the team to grow to their fullest potential.
